CARS - Direct Deductions Increases
Income Support
Cases
Applications to the
Department for Work and Pensions can be made for Direct
Deductions to be made from the benefit of those Debtors on
either Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance with arrears
for which a Liability Order has been granted in England or
Summary Warrant granted in Scotland These
deductions, if granted, are used to repay the outstanding
arrears.
Applying for
Deductions
The CARS Direct
Deduction Manager identifies all arrears cases for which
Direct Deduction can be requested. A consolidated
deduction request, including details of all outstanding
arrears, can be generated automatically
Benefit Agencies
Cases are assigned to
the appropriate Benefit Agency based on agreed criteria
including age.

Tracking Requests
Once requests have been
issued CARS monitors the receipt of the deductions. Once
deductions have been completed the case becomes eligible once
more for an additional request where there are additional
eligible debts.
